SHIM, the South Hills Interfaith Movement, offers a variety of resources available to people living in the suburbs south of Pittsburgh. From food programs and community gardens to financial and employment assistance, SHIM helps those in Pittsburgh’s South Hills access the support they need. Food resources
Brentwood Food Pantry
Located at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, the Brentwood Food Pantry distributes food on the third Saturday of every month. Pre-registration is required by the second Saturday of the month. No ID or proof of income is required. Click here or the button below to learn more and to register.
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank offers food distribution at different community locations across southwestern Pennsylvania, including walk-up and drive-up events. Pre-registration is not required, but participants are encouraged to complete a declaration of need form once a year. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP) provides cash grants to help Pennsylvania families pay their heating bills. Eligible individuals or households can access this assistance between Dec. 3, 2025, and April 10, 2026.
